Overall Objective

All-inclusive remuneration package: R569 538 per annum
Ref: ITAC 11/18

Overview: To provide professional legal services to ITAC.

Mandatory requirements: The applicant must be in possession of a four year law degree (preferably with an elective or Masters in International Trade Law) and must be admitted as either an attorney or be an advocate (who is a member of the Bar Council of SA).
Must have at least three to five (3-5) years of post-admission experience in the public or private sector with proven experience in the areas of: civil and criminal litigation and preferably in the areas of international trade law; economic regulation; corporate law administrative law and legislative drafting. Experience in compliance management will be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities: The successful applicant will be required to:
Provide advice and opinions on the International Trade Administration Act 71 of 2002 as well as relevant domestic trade legislation and South Africa?s international trade obligations and policies.
Provide legal input to bilateral, regional and multilateral negotiations pertaining to trade remedy, tariff and import/export control aspects.
Provide legal advice and support to the Commissioners and line support functions of ITAC.
Assist the Senior Manager: Legal Services in dealing with all litigation conducted by and against ITAC (both civil and criminal).
Assist the Senior Manager: Legal Services to review legislation; policies, guidelines and procedures relating to ITAC's core business and corporate service governance obligations under the PFMA and associated legislation.
Provide technical legal support to the drafting of subordinate legislation; policies; directives and guidelines
Maintain ITAC's legal compliance and contribute to the monitoring of legal risks.
Drafting and negotiation of contracts and assisting with the maintenance of a contract register.
Support the Senior Manager in the administration of the legal department.
Provide research support and maintaining the legal library resources (electronic and hard copy)
Manage the effective business operations of the Legal Services department as and when necessary.
