ITAC decides not to grant a duty waiver for copper sulphate, used in the manufacture of animal feed

ITAC self-initiated an investigation into the possible creation of a rebate provision for copper sulphate used in the manufacture of animal feed, following a request by the minister of trade, industry and competition, due to concerns about the unintended consequential impact the duty increase from 0 to 10% ad valorem may have on the animal feed manufacturing sector, who use copper sulphate in their production processes.

ITAC approves another duty waiver for Unilever’s Palm Oil

Unilever South Africa (Pty) Ltd, applied for the creation of a rebate facility on palm oil, for use in the manufacture of soaps and organic surface-active products and preparations, in the form of bars, cakes, moulded pieces or shapes.

ITAC gets 3 illegal importers of used shoes fined

In February 2025, ITAC Import and Export Control – Enforcement Unit registered criminal cases in Durban for illegal importation of worn second-hand footwear (shoes). The case was against three companies, namely Thomas Donkor, Prince Global and Akwaaba Business Enterprise.

Unilever South Africa (Pty) Ltd, applied for a rebate facility on palm oil, which is used in the manufacture of cooking oils, soaps and organic surface-active products and preparations, in the form of bars, cakes, moulded pieces or shapes. They also constitute a significant portion, nearly 36%, of the world’s vegetable oil supply.
